PlusNet plc CNET Technology CEO of the year winner

PlusNet's Chief Executive Officer, Lee Strafford, has been named "Technology CEO of the Year (small cap public firm)" in this years UK Technology Innovation & Growth Awards from the European Technology Forum and Intellect.

After scrutinizing the financial performance, management, strategy and long term prospects of over 200 other firms, the panel of industry respected judges chose PlusNet's CEO Lee Strafford as the winner. Strafford demonstrated exceptional leadership and success in transforming Internet Service Provider, PlusNet plc.

At the award celebrations Strafford was "absolutely delighted with the recognition" and announced "I'm proud to accept this award which is really on behalf of my co-workers, whose talent and efforts have built PlusNet into what it is today."

PlusNet floated on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) in July 2004, and its share price has more than doubled since. The company, employing more than 150 people in Sheffield, has seen massive growth with a turnover increase of 60% over 2003 to £27.8m. Operating profits before exceptional flotation costs are up 58% over 2003 to £2.9m.

PlusNet is due to embark on exciting new Broadband products including: Public Wi-Fi which enables wireless laptops to connect to broadband Internet through BT's OpenZone network; VoIP which enables cheaper phone calls over the internet; and music and video download content.
