AARON BENNETT – Technical Support Analyst

Aaron Bennett

When did you join PlusNet?

Two weeks ago in perceived time: it hasn't been mundane or repetitive. Two decades in 'relative' time: we're travelling fast - it's gone all bendy. Two years in actual time: ish.

Why did you join PlusNet?

Most people in most industries are aware of who the players are. I've worked for an ISP before; when a customer demanded something above our reach, I'd be telling them to try Plusnet. Eventually I happened to meet a few employees and became intrigued by their 'enthused about work' disorder, so I applied.

Why do you like working for PlusNet?

The trust and autonomy afforded to employees at all levels to allow them to get their jobs done. The systems, tools and support available. The fact I'm still one step ahead of the shoe-shine. Oh and let's not forget the games consoles, gym, air hockey and pool tables that make playtimes fun.

Describe your day-to-day job

I'm currently involved in the support of five business units acquired this year. These constitute the hosting and domain registration divisions offered by the former Parbin LTD. Daily duties include technical support, server administration, billing, hostmaster tasks, customer service, internal escalations and network monitoring. I'm also meeting with various departments as we work together to first improve then evolve these services.

What impressed you about PlusNet?

The ambition of the company to always be at the forefront of what is already an edgy business. This enables me to experiment with and support emerging technologies before they become mainstream. The front carriage at the fairground is much more fun.

How would you describe the culture at PlusNet?

Critical debate, honesty, initiative, ingenuity and enterprise are all encouraged. We're not shackled by obstinate and formulaic business methodology. Colleagues are professional, passionate, hard-working and friendly. The facilities are tremendous, the environment relaxing.

What are the career opportunities like at PlusNet?

If you want to do it, if you're good at doing it, you'll probably get the opportunity to do it. I haven't seen rigid paths, glass ceilings or 'dead man's shoes'. There are ways to grow, learn and diversify.
